Letters from Students

"Did I ever tell you you're my hero?  You're everything I wish I could be.  I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings".  Bette Midler sang "The Wind Beneath My Wings" for the motion picture Beaches.  A student sang that song to me at the end of  school year assembly, as a thank you.  That day, I knew I wasn't just a teacher; I was a role model.

I never knew the impact I had on my students until the end of the school year when I told them I was moving out of state in December of 2000.  Words cannot express how hard it was for me to tell them I would not be returning.  I have been very lucky these past three years to have taught such outstanding students. These are just a few of the notes that I received.

I know, no matter where I teach, that my work as a teacher will make a difference.  As I pursue my professional career, I will add more letters or notes from students as I receive them.

                                                                       Thank you,
