Portfolio and Electronic Portfolio Use

A portfolio is a challenging assessment tool that gives you as a professional teacher the opportunity to showcase your best efforts in a collection of your work.  It can reveal a great deal about you. It shows your growth and development and invites readers of your portfolio to gain insight about you as a professional teacher.  More specifically, portfolios represent a systematic and well-organized collection of artifacts that you have created which demonstrates competency in several teaching areas, such as: Professional Preparation, Classroom Environment, Classroom Management, Planning, Instruction, Collaboration, Communication and Technology.

A portfolio is a work in progress.  The key to the success of portfolio development  is that it documents growth and shows one's best and recent work.

With the Internet becoming a symbol for the era of technology and information, portfolios can be displayed electronically.  An electronic portfolio simply uses electronic technologies for collecting and organizing teaching artifacts in many media formats, such as audio, video, graphics and text.  Hypertext links are used to connect the artifacts to the appropriate standards.

This electronic portfolio includes my own collection of works.  It reflects my growth and development as a professional teacher over a prolonged period.  It may serve as a guide for all of you.  I hope you find your visit to my electronic portfolio interesting and enjoyable.

Best of Luck,
