What is a cohort?
A cohort is a group of students that begin and end the program together completing projects and assignments pursued through library and Internet searches while on campus and from home. Sharing of sources through computer conferencing is encouraged. Individual assignments, tests and examinations also contribute to the assessment of each student's progress.

How much does it cost?
The estimated cost is $29,250 for 39 credits, including all tuition, fees, texts, course guides, parking, most meals for the two-year program.

Is the program covered by financial aid?
Financial aid loans covering the entire cost of the program may be arranged through a financial aid officer. Repayment is made over a 10 year period following program completion.

How much does the program cost?
Half of the current tuition charge (for Catholic school teachers only); others pay full tuition.

How often does the cohort meet?
Most courses meet 1 weekend during 2 consecutive months. The exception is the Administrative Internship.

Can I stay on campus during the class weekends?
Space is at a premium campus-wide, and is available on a case-by-case basis. Some students can be placed at the Seminary or Aquinas Hall.

This decision will be made on a case-by-case after a personal interview. Generally, scores must be recent, which is defined as within the last 5 years.

What about financial aid?
Students admitted to the Executive Ed.D. Program are eligible to borrow up to $18,500 per academic year through the William D. Ford Direct Stafford Loan Program. In order to receive a loan, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

What is the most urgent segment of the application process?
Scheduling the M.A.T test.

What score is being sought?
The Selection Committee uses multiple factors in selecting candidates. However, a score of 50 or above is desired on the M.A.T.

What is the deadline for application and when will you be selecting the 30 candidates for the April, 2005 Cohort?
Application deadline is December 31, 2004 and, following a "paper screening" of credentials in early January 2004, finalists will be invited to appear before the Selection Committee after which successful candidates will be notified of acceptance.

Is there "Advanced Standing" for those who may have previously started a doctoral program?
No. Every member of the cohort takes the full program.

How are classes scheduled?
Weekends begin with dinner at 5pm on Fridays. The Friday session ends at 10pm. The Saturday sessions run from 8am to 6pm with breakfast and lunch included. The Sunday session runs from 8am to 1pm and includes brunch. The summer sessions (two) run for 16 days, Monday through Thursday, 8am to 6pm beginning the second week in July. Text and course requirements are sent to the students six weeks in advance of each on-campus session.

What about the Lecture Series?
The summer sessions include guest lecturers with national reputations, e.g., Thomas Sergiovanni, Linda Darling-Hammand, and Philip Schechtly. Each makes a formal presentation followed by a discussion, at length, with the cohort.

Is a Qualifying Examination, Examination Comprehensive and a formal dissertation required?
Yes. All requirements follow the traditional program. To enable students to complete the degree in two years, an advisor is assigned to each student from the beginning. A mentor is assigned and a dissertation committee formed after the first summer. Research methods are taught in a module at the outset and woven into each module throughout the program. Statistics sessions are scheduled in each module and a second research seminar follows the second summer.
