Graduate Elementary Education
Programs in elementary education at the graduate level include:
- Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in elementary classroom teaching (39-42 credits), and
- Non-degree program leading to a certificate of eligibility as an elementary classroom teacher in accordance with the State of New Jersey administrative code (30 credits).
The graduate program in elementary education at Seton Hall University offers students a unique opportunity to simultaneously complete a certification program and a masters degree. The program is designed for college graduates who possess a multitude of backgrounds and who wish to enter the teaching profession. For students who want the opportunity of an accelerated program, the degree may be completed in one academic year and two summers (15 months).
The masters degree sequence includes concentration courses such as social issues in education, teaching styles, child development, computer applications and curriculum. The program includes 27-30 credits in principles of teaching and learning in elementary classrooms, related field experiences and 12 credits of foundation offerings such as philosophical perspectives and ethical foundations.
