About Us
Expand your horizons to include the wonders of childhood and the multitude of teaching opportunities for which you can prepare while attending Seton Hall University’s College of Education and Human Services. Our programs offer students knowledge and understanding in the foundations of education that enhance professional preparation for the 21st century.
The Educational Studies Department consists of undergraduate teacher preparation programs in early childhood, elementary education, and special education as well as secondary education. New Jersey law requires subject area specialization, therefore, all of our education candidates also have a major from Arts and Sciences. Our education programs, and the related subject areas, have been nationally recognized by the following professional associations: (i) ACEI; (ii) CEC; (iii) NCTE; (iv) NCTM; (v) NCSS*. At the graduate level the department has programs in initial teaching certification, professional development for educators, instructional technology, and media specialist. National recognition has been awarded by AECT for the media program. The programs within Educational Studies, along with other educational leadership programs in the college and across the university, have been nationally accredited by NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education).
*(ACEI stands for Association of Childhood Education International; CEC stands for The Council for Exceptional Children; NCTE stands for the National Council of Teachers of English; NCTM stands for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; NCSS stands for the National Council for the Social Studies; AECT stands for Association for Educational Communications and Technology).
